Born on the 27th of February 1944, in a village situated between Zgharta and Tripoli in Lebanon’s Northern Region, Mejdlaya. He is married to Mary and has four children, Colette, Tanya, Richard, and Natalie. In 1956, at the age of 12 migrated to Australia with his family. Adopting the custom of the Late Father Haydar and Father Paul El-Khoury, we would attend every ship that carried Lebanese migrants and then we would set out to find them places to live, jobs to work, doctors for physical check ups and any other possible service. At the age of 17, whilst residing in Melbourne, was appointed as an officer of the Victorian TAB, and with in 12 months developed to Branch Manager. By the age of 20, the candidate decided to change careers by taking up a position with Phoenix General Insurance Group as a Trainee Inspector, and become Inspector within six months, which usually took up to six years in evening school and training. When the candidate was 26, he decided to take a trip to Lebanon with his young family. Shortly after, they moved to the US where he became a Branch Manager with the Bankers Life & Casualty Company. Whilst in the U.S., became a shareholder of a Real Estate Office, and instantly took a liking to the industry. During this time, began to compile a personnel training and development program in the areas of sales, administration, recruitment and training for sales organisations. In 1973, they decided to return to Melbourne to raise the family in this beautiful country Australia. After 8 years in Melbourne, he realised there were better opportunities in the Real Estate industry in Sydney, and so moved there in March 1981. In the early eighties, he accepted contracts to train personnel in sales and administration with Life Insurance Companies such as City Mutual and The National Mutual; and, Real Estate Companies such as Nationwide Realty and The First National Group. In all, he has trained in excess of four thousand (4,000) people through-out Australia. Currently he is a Property Developer and Investor. He is affiliated and accredited with the following: Superannuation and Life Cover Consultant Securities and Financial Services Consultant and Real Estate Agent, Business Agent, Broker and Auctioneer. One of the fundamental reasons why our candidate loves and believes in Australia as a nation, is because it genuinely welcomes people from all walks of life, allows the individual the opportunity to employ their energy, creativity and desire to succeed and develop a strong Nation. Since 1961, at the age of 17, he joined the Australian Lebanese Association of Victoria, he has held several positions within the ALA Victoria and New South Wales, which have included: Committee Member, Assistant Treasurer, Secretary and Vice President. Also he has held the following positions within the World Lebanese Cultural Union: Member, Secretary General and President of the Regional Council of the WLCU for Australia and New Zealand. Since 2003 he has been World President of the WLCU.
