June 22, 2016

Get ready to bunker down in your duvet and watch a ridiculous amount of Netflix because an Antarctic blast is set to hit most of the country by Friday.

Freezing conditions are expected along much of the south-east as the deep freeze moves from Victoria on Thursday and eases its way towards NSW by Friday.

Along with cold temperatures SNOW is being forecast and the white stuff could fall as far north as Queensland.

In Melbourne thunderstorms and hail will strike late Thursday afternoon and evening with the possibility of sleet in the hills close to Melbourne.

Temperatures will struggle to get above 13 degrees throughout the week but when the wind chill is factored in it will feel MUCH colder than this.

Meanwhile towns in NSW that have snow on the horizon include Katoomba which is one hour west of Sydney, Lithgow and Orange.

While the rest of the country will also be feeling the cold as temperatures drop well below 15 degrees during the first real cold snap of 2016.

So wrap up warm folks, winter has well and truly arrived!
