Born in Barhalioun, North Lebanon in 1909, came to Australia at the age of 17. He immediately joined the Australian Army. Elias wanted to be a translator for the Australian troops in the Middle East. He served Australia with dignity and pride. He was not sent to Papua New Guinea during World War II because of the death of his father. Elias has a few other relatives who fought for Australia too. He regards Australia as the best country in the world. He is now over 90 years old. He is still very active.
